Essentially, it means to make it right, to correct the wrongs that have occurred in one’s life even if accidental: to miss the thing aimed for, or to err, to disobey; to go overboard or to do something to excess; to do harm implying to do harm to someone with hate in mind. The theory is that we carry inside us as parts of the Unconscious Mind all the significant people in our lives. The process of Ho’oponopono is to align with and clean up our genealogy as well as to clean up our relationships with other people in our lives. It is a process for getting aligned with existence. The key aspect is this: everything comes from you. Within Ho’oponopono this is often referred to as 100% responsibility, and it means that every problem you experience is happening because of you. The problem is never with someone else, never an external cause. It’s in you! However, it is important not to blame yourself for problems. Just know that problems you experience are there for you to resolve. The main objective of this discipline is getting to “the state of Zero, where we have zero limits; no memories, no identity. It is based on the principle of 100% responsibility, taking responsibility for everyone’s actions, not only for one’s own. If someone somewhere did something and you became aware of that – you are 100% responsible for that. If one would take complete responsibility for one’s life, then everything one see, hears, tastes, touches, or in any way experiences would be one’s responsibility because it is in one’s life. The problem would not be with our external reality, it would be with ourselves. To change our reality, we would have to change ourselves - stop all memories from replaying. Because Ho’oponopono views all consciousness as part of the whole, any error that a person clears in their own consciousness is cleared for everyone. The means for stopping these stored memories from replaying over and over is Ho’oponopono. When we do not use Ho’oponopono, memories continue to play, and we experience these memories replaying in the form of illness, poverty, anger, depression, desperation, etc. How do we do this? How do we get to that optimum state? What exactly needs to be done? This is achieved by a constant cleaning process. Cleaning is the actual Ho’oponopono practice. Cleaning what? You clean yourself from subconscious garbage – programs that run your life without your participation or acknowledgment. The actual Ho’oponopono cleaning process consists of repetitions of the following phrases that will ignite the self transformation process for the practitioner: I Love You Please forgive me I am sorry Thank you The most powerful phrases are “I love you” and “Thank you.” To whom or what do you say these phrases? Essentially you just say them. There is no need to feel anything special, imagine anything, or do anything other to complicate this process. Just do it! You repeat these phrases just like a mantra and the cleaning process happens. You may clean life situations, places, relationships and of course financial situations. When something comes to your awareness – you accept 100% responsibility for that and repeat the cleaning process without guilt trips, intellectualizing, or judgment. You clean and the Universe does the rest. The Universe takes over in a magical, mystical transformation relieving you and yours and everyone, for that matter, of the ideas and memories that cause hardship, pain and angst.
