    저는 정 목사님과 독자 여러분들이 세계복음주의협회(WEF)가 구성되기 전에
    세계복음주의연맹(World Evangelical Alliance)이 먼저 존재했음을 알고 있으리라 믿습니다.
   사실 세계복음주의연맹(EA)은 영국복음주의연맹의 다른 이름이었습니다.
    이 단체는 1846년에 조직되었습니다.

   저는 1945년에 목사 안수를 받았고, 그 후 영국복음주의연맹에 가담하였습니다.
   그러나 1951년 네덜란드에서 복음주의대회가 열렸고 그 기간 중 세계복음주의협회(WEF)가
                           구성되었습니다.
   그후 영국복음주의연맹은 자체 조직으로 남게 되었습니다.
   저는 1951년부터 세계복음주의협회(WEF)의 회원으로 활동해왔으며,
   1951년에 그 단체의 교리적, 신앙적 기반을 닦는데 큰 역할을 감당하였습니다.
 
   저는 또한 50여 년 전 국제복음주의학생회(International Fellowship of Evangelical Student)의
  발족 초기부터 참여해왔습니다.
  저는 이 단체의 후원을 받아 전세계를 여행하고 여러 나라들을 방문한 바 있습니다.

 
The Evangelical Alliance [1846]
 

“It was an impressive sight. 800 Christians,

who had gathered in Freemason's Hall, Great Queen Street, London, in August, 1846,

were standing to shake hands and sing the Doxology.

They had just voted to establish what has been called "a new thing in Church history--

a definite organization for the expression!!! of unity

amongst Christian individuals belonging to different churches…

They called it ‘The Evangelical Alliance…*’” 1.
 
Note: The Evangelical Alliance would later be renamed
 the World Evangelical Fellowship in the U.S. 1951;
other nations, such as the UK, still retain the name Evangelical Alliance.
 
 
 

From EA/WEF to the LCWE / AD 2000 & Beyond

Excerpts from Fuller’s article, “From the Evangelical Alliance to the World Evangelical Fellowship:
150 years of unity with a mission”
show the close relationship of the Evangelical Alliance/World Evangelical Fellowship
 to the 1974 Lausanne Consultation on World Evangelism (LCWE)
 and the A.D. 2000 and Beyond Movement:
 

As John Stott has stated, “The story of the World Evangelical Fellowship,

with its roots in the Evangelical Alliance

(which is more than one hundred years older than the World Council of Churches),

deserves to be better known.”

 Billy Graham adds, “WEF has been a major force in uniting evangelicals throughout the world.”

 The evangelical movement, highlighted by the 150th-anniversary celebrations

 of Britain's Evangelical Alliance in November 1996,

makes a fascinating study in missiology.

Its growth has been fueled by its core characteristic -

the evangel, the preaching of the Gospel worldwide.

 WEF itself is, in a sense, the bottom line of mission:

churches planted as a result of mission,

forming a fellowship to help each other disciple the nations.

Christianity Today, Inc., which was founded in 1955 by Dr. L. Nelson Bell

and his son-in-law, William Franklin "Billy" Graham,

represents a nexus for the ecumenical leaders of the Lausanne movement.

Two notables of the ever-resonating Lausanne Consultation 1974 are

 Billy Graham and John Stott.

Stott has been credited as the framer of the Lausanne Covenant (1974)

which, to this day, is a pivotal document;

many Christian organizations require adherence by their members.

The shadow government for Lausanne was and continues to be

the World Evangelical Fellowship (WEF)

for which Stott formulated the guiding principles

 (1951, in consultation with Billy Graham);

reviving it from the dying embers of what had originally been

the U.S. Evangelical Alliance (EA/Philip Schaff).

The EA which continues to be a functioning ecumenical body in the UK

 was founded in 1846 at an unprecedented global missionary gathering

in London at the United Grand Lodge of England headquarters at Freemason Hall.

Stott was commissioned to do this work

by the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE),

which is now, ironically, a member of WEF representing North America.

 

Stott is also Vice President of

 the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) [UK, 1947]

which has offices in 140 countries.

 IFES serves as an umbrella to InterVarsity Christian Fellowship of Canada

 and to the U.S. InterVarsity which sponsors the Urbana conferences.

Stott is joined at Christianity Today by two other IFES officers,

 IFES President Samuel Escobar and

Rene Padilla the Latin American IFES representative,

who is also on the World Evangelical Fellowship (WEF) International Council­­—

the same WEF which Stott helped to

re-ignite to be the behind-the-scenes directorate

 for the global, ecumenical Lausanne movement.

 2004년 11월 뉴욕타임스 칼럼은 “만일 복음주의자들이 교황을 뽑는다면

존 스토트 목사가 선출될 것”이라고 말했다.

YWAM participates in the A.D. 2000 Evangelism organization.

 Billy Graham, Luis Palau, Campus Crusade's Bill Bright,

and Kyun Chik Han of Korea were named as four Honorary Co-Chairmen.

 A.D. 2000 Evangelism is ecumenical, compromising to the core,

and even has some New Agers in its ranks,

yet many undiscerning or uninformed professing believers are

supporting, praising, and participating in it.

This unscriptural evangelism movement includes

 Roman Catholics, Orthodox, Charismatics, Pentecostals,

 and Protestants of all kinds.
